If you're looking to get your audience to do "EXACTLY" what you tell them to, and understand your message, this article will tell you exactly that.
Now, I've been in situations where no one understood what I was talking about.
I sounded like a nerd yapping about things. In all these cases, whoever read/listened were half-asleep. No engagement happened. A complete waste of time and energy.
And guess what I learnt during those experiences? I found a quick trick that helped me get my audience to listen to me better, and understand my message in the way intended.
We are taught to use big words and complicated language to sound smart
Imagine you see an ad, written by some AI drunk on corporate zombie juice, filled with words and phrases even a guy with a PhD. won't understand.
Now, do you think an ad like this would reach a wide audience, keep them engaged, and lead to results?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Your message will be lost in the clutter of millions of ads.
This goes against everything you would've studied in school, maybe during college and even in B-Schools.
We're not awarded for simple, straight to the point messaging.
Instead, we're encouraged to write wordy, waffling copies. And that's a problem.
No one actually likes that and the best communicators use SIMPLE language
Ever see one of your favorite creators, YouTubers, speakers sound like a robot?
No. They keep it simple.
They keep it in a way that even a 10 year old kid can understand the message.
And that's why they're successful. Everyone can understand what they mean.
You spend thousands on ads, and it's criminal if you don't see results.
It's criminal if your audience do not understand you.
Let's see how to improve ad performance now.
Simplify content, and write like you speak
You see, when you write a blog, an ad, a post, a novel, whatever, you aren't putting some letters together.
You're trying to talk to your audience.
Avoid big words, complicated language, unnecessary jargon, technical terms, acronyms unless absolutely required. (P.S. If it's working for you, it's perfectly okay.)
This makes sure that you get your message across to as many people as you can, and you get them to perform whatever you say in that juicy call to action.
One may ask, "But if I do not mention a long list of technical terms, how do I show.....I'm a expert....and..... I know stuff?" ,
If you can't explain it to a 10 year old, you're not an expert at it.
Also, jargon is boring. Heck, most of whatever you and I do are boring.
And so, let's start writing better.
“Every ad we run needs to be understood, no exceptions.”
No more jargon. No more vague marketing gobbledygook.
Measurable, tangible, solid results.
There’s plenty of ways to do this and it’s doable for every single business, yours included.
